Logistics Infrastructure
A key transportation and logistics hub
Hyogo Prefecture is an important production and consumption base in Japan, as well as a key transportation and logistics hub.The coastal area stretching from southern Hyogo Prefecture to Osaka Prefecture is the region with the most developed logistics infrastructure in the Kansai region, with international and domestic freight transport hubs for sea, air, rail, and automobile transport.
Regarding expressways, the prefecture aims to create a one-hour expressway zone within the prefecture, and in particular, the length of expressways in operation, such as the Meishin, Chugoku, Sanyo, and Hanshin Expressways, is the second longest in the nation after Tokyo.
Regarding rail transport, Kobe Freight Terminal Station was relocated and opened on the JR Sanyo Main Line in December 2003. This has significantly reduced container transport times compared to the past.
Furthermore, Hyogo Prefecture and the surrounding area are home to some of Japan's leading logistics hubs, including the Port of Kobe, Osaka International Airport, and Kansai International Airport. A location in this region will serve as a base not only for the Japanese market, but also for the rest of Asia, reducing transportation costs and shortening delivery times.
Kobe Airport opened in February 2006. Along with Osaka-Tajima Airport, the logistics base has expanded.
